Fractional ownership model has the potential to energise the NSOP segment by democratising ownership of aircraft and it can be a key driver to boost the number of aircraft existing in the NSOP industry,” he added. “This will allow companies and individuals to minimise their capital outflow by sharing the purchase cost, reducing their exposure to risks and making it financially easier to run a NSOP business. Fractional ownership will lower the barrier on cost of acquisition of helicopters and aeroplanes through pooled capital by multiple owners,” Scindia said. “While our scheduled operations are on fast track and we have increased the fleet size from 400 aeroplanes in 2013 to more than 700 in 2021-22, through these (fractional ownership) guidelines, we should be able to spur growth in the non-scheduled fleet too. Since a country-wide rollout will require a significant number of choppers to be operated by non schedule operators (NSOP) or charter companies, the government has issued rules for fractional ownership of planes and choppers to make it feasible for more players to enter the sector. “…we have been able to allot helipad spaces from the design stage for all future expressways and major highways so that it can be used for the evacuation of accident victims,” Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in Srinagar on Monday while inaugurating the fourth Heli-India Summit 2022. The aviation ministry will undertake a pilot project by getting charter operator/s to deploy a chopper at AIIMS Rishikesh under “project sanjeevani” which will cover an area of 150 km for this purpose. NEW DELHI: All future expressways and major highways will have to allot helipad spaces during design stage itself at regular intervals to ensure speedier evacuation of accident victims.
